RATIONALE:

As a second year student studying my final in my Creative Media and Technology Production course, I had gained so much knowledge when it comes go both the topics of Digital Media but my personal expertise in which I am much stronger in is the Moving Image side as I have more experience in using DSLR cameras and video editing from the many projects I have done before beginning this Final Major Project. From last year, I had transitioned from using straightforward camcorder cameras to using more professional and complex filming equipments such as DSLR Canon cameras and TASCAM sound recorders with microphones and I have been trained to use these types of equipment through the many projects that I had undergone such as scene recreations, adverts and documentaries and this has made me realise the journey of learning media and how I had started from knowing so little to knowing a great amount of knowledge about media and producing high quality work. The one project that had truly and immensely inspired me was creating a documentary as it had taught me to take initiative and learn how to use the equipment I was given to produce good audio and footage for my documentary moreover, using DSLR cameras and a good audio recorder and acknowledging how to properly use them will allow me to produce good footage with clear and high quality, furthermore, the audio to be used in my LGBT short film will not have too much unnecessary background noise or too much ambient sound, for example. Additionally, that particular project had taught me to always be patient and keep myself motivated go always assemble and create high standard products to achieve high grades. Moving Image is my specific pathway that I had chosen for my FMP as it is my strongest field of knowledge compared to Digital Media and I am pursuing my studies on Film Production and Cinematography when I continue on to University.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:

PROJECT ACTION PLAN AND TIMETABLE:

Throughout the duration of the Final Major Project, I will be continuing my research and planning for my LGBT theme short film consistently every lesson and making sure that I source every secondary source reference so that I may always gain at least some inspiration as I transition my journey from pre production to production and then finally to post production for my short film. In the process of creating and completing my pre production documents, I will attempt to complete them all within the first 3 weeks of my production schedule and I must complete at least 2 or 3 drafts of both the storyboard and the script and receive feedback both from my peers and advisor as part of my focus group so that I can upload all drafts and mention the positive or critical feedback I have gained so that my Wix can portray the progress and improvements of my pre production work. During my pre production stage, I will still consistently conduct additional research as it will allow me as a student understand professional work of a particular subject and I may also discover an area of interest that may inspire me along the way of my FMP and it may cause me to change some of my ideas so that I may produce better outcomes for my Final Major Project. Once I have completed organising and arranging my pre production documents such as my storyboard, script and casting sheet, this will be the moment where I will engage on completing my production pieces such as filming my short film and the editing. As filming is more of a complex job as I would face a number of obstacles and problems that may prevent me from conducting any filming in which why I want to spend most of my remaining weeks around at least 4 weeks of my production schedule to consist of experimental filming in locations and doing exploratory test shots with the actors and seeing what kind of framing and shots would be fitting to use for my film. Moreover, I will most definitely include filming my actual scenes professionally for my short film as I wish to use most of my time perfecting how I film each scene in my film and how my film will visually and contently portray it's message.

PLANNING FOR PRACTICAL/TECHNICAL PROBLEMS:

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE/TIMETABLE:

Additionally, that particular project had taught me to always be patient and keep myself motivated go always assemble and create high standard products to achieve high grades. I also enjoy producing Digital Media outcomes and one of the Digital Media outcomes that have inspired me in this Final Major Project was the magazine spreads that I have created and produced last year for my first year FMP as I think those outcomes were very strong and the articles that I had produced contain the writing style and layout of how I want my articles and online magazine spread to appear like. Moreover, having experience using the TASCAM sound recorders and microphones has allowed me to gain some knowledge on how to use equipment needed to conduct a podcast for my online feminist blog. I find that I have both good and strong attributes and skills in both Moving Image and Digital Media such as writing articles and using my Adobe Photoshop skills in creating magazine spreads and also using DSLR cameras, TASCAM recorders and LED lights to film shots for the promotional video I will make for my Moving Image outcome. I have chosen to mix my final outcome in producing both a Moving Image outcome and some Digital Media outcomes as this would allow me to portray my skills in both these categories as I have a passion for Moving Image since I will be studying Film Production and Cinematography in University and illustrating my Digital Media skills on my online blog is helpful as I personally enjoy writing in general as I do enjoy the subject of journalism and I would personally like to set up my own blog that I can post my extra circular film work in my spare time in the future.

PROJECT ACTION PLAN AND TIMETABLE:

Throughout the duration of the Final Major Project, I will be continuing my research and planning for my Feminist online blog consistently every lesson and making sure that I source every secondary source reference so that I may always gain at least some inspiration as I transition my journey from pre production to production and then finally to post production for my online blog post outcomes. In the process of creating and completing my pre production documents, I will attempt to complete them all within the first 3 weeks of my production schedule and I must complete at least 2 or 3 drafts of my articles that I will be writing for my blog article post and my article for my online magazine spread and receive feedback both from my peers and adviser as part of my focus group so that I can upload all drafts and mention the positive or critical feedback I have gained so that my Wix can portray the progress and improvements of my pre production work to production and post production. During my pre production stage, I will still consistently conduct additional research as it will allow me as a student understand professional work of a particular subject in which for me is the subject of Feminism and sexism within the film industry and I may also discover an area of interest that may inspire me along the way of my FMP and it may cause me to change some of my ideas so that I may produce better outcomes for my Final Major Project. Once I have completed organising and arranging my pre production documents such as my first few drafts of my online blog and online magazine spread articles, planning sheets that state the topics that will be discussed in the podcast conversation and the shot list of what shots I will need to film for my Moving Image promotional video for my online feminist blog: This will be the moment where I will engage on completing my production pieces such as filming my advertisement promotional video and the editing using both Adobe Premiere and After Effects, writing my drafts for both my magazine spread and blog article to perfect them to be published on my blog and also recording the podcast session and editing and perfecting it on Adobe Audition. When creating my podcast, I will make sure to ask people that will participate in my focus group that are similar age groups to my target audience for feedback on whether the topics and subjects that have been discussed in my experimental podcast sessions are interesting to them and to complete a questionnaire on what topics are interesting to them when it comes to subject of feminism. As creating a blog with a lot of different Digital Media and Moving Image outcomes is quite a complex job, I will face a number of obstacles and problems that may prevent me from conducting any filming for my promotional video, or recording my podcast sessions and this is why I want to spend the first few weeks experimenting on the cameras, and doing exploratory test shots with the TASCAM audio recorders to get a better and clearer understanding on how to work these equipment so that when I use them for my official filming shoots or recording sessions, I will know how to use them professionally. After conducting my experiments and writing many drafts for my blog and magazine spread articles, I will spend the remaining weeks around at least 4 weeks of my production schedule to consist of professionally recording, filming and writing all the outcomes that I will be producing for my online feminist blog and perfecting the footage when editing on both editing platforms of Adobe After Effects and Premiere with the help of YouTube tutorials so that I will produce a high quality promotional video to be published on my blog, in the process of post production. As I may not be the most talented or strongest when using After Effects, I will spend quite longer editing my promotional video compared to writing my articles so that I will have plenty of time to learn how to master After Effects and perfect my editing. With my podcast outcome, I will assure myself to produce a podcast audio that will be very similar to podcasts that I have used as my inspiration and demonstrating the knowledge and skills I have attained from using Adobe Audition from watching tutorials on YouTube and being given a workshop tutorial by the technicians as my guidance. Editing my podcast session that will be published on my blog will not take longer than a week as I feel quite strong when editing audio as I have previously edited audio in past projects.

EVALUATION:

Throughout the course of my Final Major Project on Feminism and Sexism within the film industry, I will self evaluating myself how I am doing with the FMP daily with how I spend my time doing independent studies, with my research and my production, I will do this by not just describing what I am productively doing with my time on this project but analysing how I am doing the work by stating what is strongly working or what is not as strong and is weak with my work as evaluating and analysing how I produce the work I will create for my project will allow me to see what I must improve to achieve work that is higher quality and stronger so that this will push myself to work harder on the outcomes I will be producing to get a higher grade in this project. Other than always stating what I must improve on, I will also consistently evaluate myself in a positive way by mentioning daily what went well and how creative my work is and stating how productive each day is so that I will keep count of how productive I have been throughout the FMP.

PROJECT CONCEPT:

For my project, I am focusing on feminism and sexism within the film industry however, this topic is just a sub topic of the broad subject of Feminism which is an important matter and issue that needs to be focused on and needs social awareness to be spread to the world. What I want for my outcomes in which is my online feminist bog to spread knowledge that sexism still exists in the world and in many work places such as the film industry and there are employees, men and women that are experiencing discrimination but for my online blog, I am mainly focusing on the discrimination towards women as according to the many secondary sources I have read from the internet, websites and even newspapers, women are mostly experiencing the prejudice actions compared to men and I wish to spread awareness to my target audience whom are mature teenagers and young adults that are nearing to adulthood and working professionally. My message for my Final Major Project outcome is to promote the message of not allowing sexism to prevent my target audience whom may wish to pursue a career in the film industry as I would not want anyone in the world to feel as if they cannot achieve their wishes due to discrimination and inequality due to their gender. In order to produce my online feminist blog, I will be needing to research quite a lot of articles that will aid me to be inspired to write articles and watch plenty of videos that discuss feminist issues about film and these secondary resources will allow me to produce a strong, high quality promotional video related to feminism in film. I will also definitely need to research on how I will be able to portray my message of stopping and deterring  discrimination against women in the film industry whether I will be straight forward about my point or be symbolic in my articles, podcast, magazine spread or my promotional video.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

For my online feminism themed blog, I will be targeting more towards the teenage/young/mature adult (Mid teenage years from 16 year olds to less than 30 year olds). The reason why I am aiming for teenagers that are over 16 years old is because this is the age where teenagers begin to mature their selves and notice the issues within the world and also this is the age where teenagers are very socially independent begin to feeling emotions and my target audience will be teenagers that are passionate about feminism and do not support sexism but also, they may have an interest in films and wish to pursue a career in the film industry hence why my online blog that discusses feminism and sexism within the film industry may be an interests to them and a blog that they can relate to. Moreover, a reason why I am aiming to young adults and mature adults is because some of my target audience may have be working and may be already employed in a working environment of their choice but they may experience receiving exist comments, remarks or actions form other employees in their job and my online blog will state the issues of sexism and how to deal with sexism and prejudice comments towards a specific gender the correct way rather than the wrong way hence why young adults and mature adults that are already working can possibly relate to my online blog stating the issues of sexism. My subject of my Final Major Project is about Feminism and for my target audience, although women are the ones that most likely experience sexism, I will be targeting to aim for the  attention of both men and women, boys and girls. Feminism is about the equality of both men and women, politically and socially and for my online blog, I want to capture the attention of women that may have an interest in films or getting into the film industry that there is a lot of sexism that women experience but I want my blog's message to tell them to not allow sexism to prevent them from achieving what ever they wish to. I am aiming to capture boys and men's attention for my online blog because men too experience sexism at times and my message will be the very same as my message towards women and even if some of the men that are a part of my target audience do not experience sexism, my online blog will teach them about feminism and why there should be equality between both men and women and to respect both the sexes.
