Feminism relates to the British values in a significant way as it applies to democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and respect and tolerance. Every has the right to vote for what they wish to be able to make a change but centuries ago in the past, women never used to have the right to vote and women had created feminist movements such as the suffragettes to fight for their rights to vote, just like how men could and to this present day, both men and women over the age of 18 now have the right to politically vote and elect in which has improved equality between both the sexes as compared to before. Although it was a long journey and a long political fight for women to achieve the right to vote in the past, finally being given the chance to finally vote is a reward and us women should use our right to vote to make a change in the world. Feminism also applies to the rule of law as in the history of feminism, it was not always peaceful and it did not always consist of passive, non aggressive campaign protests as some had attacked police officers in the past and violent protest is not the way to achieve a goal but the rule of law is to protect the people and attacking officers that are trying to protect civilians is not the moral way to get the government's attention. The definition of individual liberty is our freedom of speech, this does not mean we are free to do what ever we wish to do but we are free to do what is right. This applies to feminism because women and men all have the same rights to say what ever they wish and state their opinions as everyone in the whole world is entitled to their own opinions and thoughts however, sometimes saying particular things that are offensive and insulting to someone is not using their individual liberty correctly but taking advantage of it. Saying disrespectful thoughts such as sexist comments and remarks about men or women is not acceptable as this is a violation against another person however, slurs and offensive comments are still being used against women and this is why the world should be reminded that it is not okay to treat someone unequally due to their gender but to promote equality between both women and men and that are capable to do the very same things men can achieve and also men can achieve what women can achieve. Respect and tolerance is about showing appreciation and also toleration towards a specific group of people whether it is because of your age, your sexuality, your gender or even your culture. Feminism focuses on the equality of both males and females and feminists promote for society to accept men and women equally as human beings. Not everyone in society think that men and women are equal as some still traditionally think that men are superior and hold more power than women and some people in society cannot accept the fact that some females are more successful than men and are offended that women are becoming more successful hence why British values promote for society an the whole world to accept that men and women both have the equal chance of achieving what ever they both wish to achieve and society must accept the fact that women can also hold power in the world, not just men.
